Introduction

Takemura lab is a relatively young laboratory, which was launched in April 2001. Today it is located in Cybermedia Center, Toyonaka Educational Research Center, which was completed in Toyonaka campus in October 2002. Takemura lab is operated under the direction of three staffs: Professor Haruo Takemura, Associate Professor Kiyoshi Kiyokawa, and Lecturer Atsushi Nakazawa.

The number of students in Takemura lab, which was only two undergraduate students at first, has been favorably increasing and reached sixteen in May 2008:one third-year doctor’s degree student, two second-year doctor’s degree student, one second-year doctor’s degree student, six second-year master’s degree students, six first-year master’s degree students, five undergraduate students. We have students from various countries.

Takemura lab is named “Integrated Media Environment,” since it proposes “the creation of new environments by media integration and utilization” as its theme for research activities. Its main research area roughly falls into several categories such as Virtual & Augmented Reality, 3D User Interface, Modeling of Real World, Computer Supported Cooperative Work, etc.Some examples of each research activity (titles and abstracts from research papers) are as follows.
